|Raphael Kopan, Ph.D., William K. Schubert Professor of Pediatrics, Director of
the Division of Developmental Biology, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical
Center will be presenting the Cancer Biology Seminar on Thursday, May 22, 2014
at 12:00 Noon in the Rieveschl Auditorium of the Vontz Center for Molecular
Studies. Dr. Kopan is a pioneering expert in the field of Notch biology. His
work has demonstrated how deregulation of Notch causes development defects and
human diseases such as Alzheimer and cancer. A series of seminal discoveries
made by Dr. Kopan's laboratory has led to clinical trials to target the Notch
pathway in cancer therapy. Recent findings of the laboratory further unveiled
the complex interplay between Notch signaling and the tumor microenvironment.
